After meeting your guide in the morning, you are going to be taken to the first major sight of Lisbon - Castelo de São Jorge. Saint George’s Castle looks down over Lisbon, so wherever you are in the city this major building can be seen easily.
Your private guide will explain to you all of its fascinating history that dates back all the way to ancient Romans.
After some time spent exploring Saint George’s Castle, take a quick walk to the main observation point overlooking the city - Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara. It is located in the Bairro Alto neighbourhood and is also referred to as “belvedere” which means beautiful vantage point.
Follow your guide to your next stop, the cultural and historical landmark of major importance – the Jerónimos Monastery, which is not only an outstanding example of late Gothic architecture but also a UNESCO site.
After admiring the monastery continue your walk to one of most famous landmarks of the city – Belem Tower. This beautiful defence tower was constructed many years ago on a rock outcrop in the Tagus River, but as it happens, water levels have changed dramatically and now it is on the bank of the river, which is a plus for all the visitors, as they can easily reach it by walking right up to it across a small bridge.
