Shanghai - China
Full day walking tour in Shanghai with a local tour guide
Our ancient historical walking tour in Shanghai starts at the City God Temple (Chenghuang Miao), a taoist temple located next to Yuyuan garden. It is in the middle of the historical center in Shanghai.
Next, we will head into the Bund district that accommodated the financial center in the city during the colonial period. Even though the British presence was dominant back then (which can be reflected in those 24 historical buildings), the area was also controlled by the Russians, the Americans, and the Japanese. What's more, during those years, the Bund remained as the refugee place for the urban fabric of Shanghai.
After that, we will visit People’s Square, a large public square that contains the building of the Municipal Government of Shanghai. Before 1949 when the regime People’s Republic of China was established, the current People’s Square was a horse racetrack belonging to the racing club of Shanghai.
Here we can find the Shanghai museum, which is dedicated to antique Chinese art.
Finally, we will head into Xintiandi/Tianzifang,a pedestrian area filled with shops and restaurants.
We will end our walking tour around Shanghai here so you can spend time wandering the narrow alleys and visiting the bookshops, cafés, restaurants, and shopping centers.
Enjoy this mix of history, famous sights and Chinese culture while making the most of your time in Shanghai.
